Lost Abbey Witch’s Wit Beer, Now With Less Staking and Burning

Halloween is soon upon us, but that’s not why the witches are in an uproar. Over a beer label.

Port Brewing Co., of San Marcos, CA, releases Witch’s Wit Belgian white under their Lost Abbey brand, and now faces a bit of a backlash over the label art. A practicing Pagan, and self-proclaimed witch, saw the Lost Abbey bottle in a local liquor store and was offended by the 16th-century-style imagry of a witch being burned at the stake. Now, Port Brewing has found itself immersed in controversey and hate mail over what has been deemed “religious insensitivity” by Pagans and witches.

PCB will meet next month to discuss this event at their next meeting.
