Beer Review – Abita Mardi Gras Bock

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Abita has a Mardi Gras special. No, that’s no oxymoron or Captain Obvious statement. It’s just right.

I give you, the Abita Mardi Gras Bock. Like many other Abita brews, this beer has sustainability. What’s that? It’s the ability to be The Beer for 6-8 hours straight. Strong flavor, but not an overpowering experience. it’s a real beer that drinks like a pisswasser.

The grainy nose welcomes you to this Maibock/Helles Bock elixir. Almost wheaty, you kinda think you’re drinking a lager (don’t shoot me for that) until the subtle creaminess washes over you.

(Thanks to The Bulldog for supplying the glass.)

This light-copper (which seems to be the color of most beers stored in the basement) beer has a strange level of natural sweet to it. The same way whole wheat bread can sometimes make you wonder if you accidentally poured sugar in the bag. It’s a refreshing finish.

This is a great way to attain the perfect Mardi Gras mindset.
