AFTERMATH: Inaugural District Beer Hunt

Well, that was a hell of an adventure. We didn’t “win,” but we WON. Everyone WON. As it should’ve been.

What do you know? What can you find?

Bar Review – Broadway Station

Post written by Derek (Ed.)

I recently moved and now need a new local bar. Luckily for me the Broadway Station is close to me. This is a perfect bar in my opinion. Some tvs for your sports fix, decent prices, good people and some even microbrew selections. You can go there anytime and you know it’s not going to be bad. This bar is founded on the “KISS” principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. Doesn’t try to get too fancy or to cheap. Well Done.

Bar Review – Pound & Pence

Derek went adventuring in the Financial District. Here’s the first (of hopefully many) of his tales.

Mid February, 65 degrees, NYC, Friday = Going Out. We tried our luck and went to the financial district and the area know as Stone St. It wasn’t setup like it normally is when the weather is much nice. I can explain that whole setup in another review.

Bar Review: Bull Moose Saloon

Check out this review by my buddy, Pete. You can read his bio here

I only have 6 words to say about this bar

COME TO BULL MOOSE ON TUESDAY!

$3 drafts…. not a certain draft or just crummy light beers (which I prefer but I’m a real American.) But they have heavy foreign beers and smaller brewery’s stuff from around the area. The best part is for those who work until 6pm the happy hour is from 7pm till the end of the night. its not one of those stupid 4pm to 6:30pm happy hours designed for students and or teachers.

The rest of the time the bar is pretty cool too. There is a pool table that you can always get a match with someone on and meet someone interesting (in New York interesting is nice for weird.) But none the less it’s fun. The Bull Moose is on 44th between 8th and 9th and right by the Irish Rogue another cool joint. I would love to say more but I gotta go it’s Tues and almost 7pm.

WADA Series of Bars: Atomic Billiards

There’s always a reason we go to our favorite bars. The beer, the food, the people (good and bad), or just because it feels right. Sometimes a bar has more, and that more is darts. This is the start of a new series on TPG, the WADA Series of Bars. We’ll start by profiling the DC sponsor bars.

We begin with Atomic Billiards in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of NW DC.

The Queen Vic – Update on H Street

If anyone out there is a fan of the English soap “EastEnders”, you’ve heard this name before.

That’s a hell of a way to open a post on a beer blog…

TPG Talks…with Miles Gray of Smith Commons

Yesterday we brought you our review of Smith Commons. Today, as promised, we bring you the interview with Managing Partner/Beer Nerd Miles Gray. It’s a video that’s only audio (low light, need to learn how to make audio file from video file). Plus transcribing it would not only be a monumental pain in the ass, but wouldn’t accurately or honestly relay Miles’ passion for his job and the restaurant. Enjoy!
